No. Anthropic states explicitly that nothing is added to the text and there are no hidden characters; the Claude watermark lives in the statistical pattern of word selection and is verified with Anthropic's key.
Then why scan for hidden characters at all?＋
Because other tools do it. Obfuscation tricks, copy-paste chains, SEO spam, and some 'AI humanizer' products insert zero-width or bidi characters. Finding them is cheap and conclusive — and it's a different fact from any watermark claim.
Are the stylistic markers an AI detector?＋
No, and we label them soft on purpose. Words like 'delve' appear in human writing too. The tool shows them as hints; it never claims authorship.
